This evening we helped clear ivy, weeds and dig out roots in East Croydon

Tonight we helped ECCO East Croydon Community Organization continue their work on the raised beds along the “Boulevard”. Tools and bags were supplied as part of Croydon Council’s “ Clean and green champions” scheme and tomorrow they’re going to have 27 bags of green waste to. We were joined by a number of the local residents who were old hands at the clearing and weeding and we even have managed to recruit a few people who were walking home and stopped to ask more about what we were up to. . We did bring our mascot Jim back to visit the site where he was found and then sent him off to Gatwick Airport to help guide in the planes with Rob tonight.

After the task we headed towards Park Hill Rec where the runners had a choice of three different loops to run round and then we had one of our favourite sessions – Heads or Tails. Not sure the burpees went down so well though given the groans from the losers of that particular round.

We had 5 new runners tonight so welcome to Stephanie, Jenna, Andy, Zoe and Stephen and hope to see you back again soon. Congratulations to Rachel for her sub-50 10km PB in Nottingham this weekend and also to Dom and Stephen D for their wonderful times in London this weekend too – both PBs s well I think.

Next Tuesday's run will be down to the Food Bank to help in their gardens

Finally…. Rachel will be doing her 50th Parkrun at Lloyd Park on Saturday the 3rd of June so we are hoping some of you can come along and then celebrate with brunch in the Parklife café followed by a crafty session making a flag for the GoodGym Olympics and a GoodGym themed installation for Saffron Central’s Pride flag.
