27 GGer's helped St Mary's Flats, ran 6km and did Regents Park 1km time trial
Welcome along to Koonal whose first time it was last night! Lovely to see you all in the depths of winter :)
In the news this week:
We were off to St Mary's Flats this week to help Jon and the community that live there with their public spaces. It's an incredibly short run there, about 500 metres! Jon explained that the group of flats is one of the oldest examples of social housing, it has some old beautiful architecture and a local community built around it. BUT there is no one to maintain the public spaces, the council don't have the funds - this is where we come in!
Man/woman power!
Splitting into teams we did the following tasks:
Within 30 minutes the public space areas were looking beautiful! Well done all. Saying our goodbyes to Jon we headed to Regents Park via Chester Gate. Usually at GoodGym we normally do gym (run), good (task) and then gym (run back) BUT this week we were keeping with the original title doing the GOOD first and then the GYM afterwards. Following me? Good!
Time Trial Time!
It's 2km to Regents Park Inner Circle where we then split into two groups to do a 1km time trial - this is a brilliant circle and a very quiet place to do it. Everyone smashed it and pushed themselves around the historical rose gardens. Nice!
We headed home the same route, stretched out and went to the pub. Lovely!
Sign up for next week here - we are off to Cecil Sharp and Abbey Community Centre for the last time this year.
PB out.
