On Good Friday a hardy bunch of Goodgymers descended on Chippenham for the Good Friday 10 miler, with the promise of an Easter egg and bespoke medal high on the list of talking points. The race was a run along country lanes through the scenic Wiltshire countryside for 5 miles before turning around for the run back.

After deciding on the best way to tie the 2 chip timers to our shoes, a group photo and a mass warm up we made our way to the start line.

Whooooosh, we were off like the Easter bunny had taken our chocolate and we had to catch them. On the way around the 10 mile route we were greeted by families outside their houses cheering and wonderful marshals stopping us from getting lost. There may have been the odd puddle and a bit of drizzle but we could now smell that chocolate, and it would be ours.

5 miles in and we turned around to make our way back. The out and back route gave the perfect opportunity to cheer or high five fellow Goodgymers going the other way. By the time we got to a mile from the end we could almost see the end in sight. Making our way into the Stanley Park sports ground we now only had around 400 meters to go. In what seemed like a blur of red, one by one we crossed the finish line. At the end we had our choice from a selection of Easter eggs and were given our amazing bunny medals. After a stretch and a chat some of us went for some cheesy chips before heading back for a deserved rest.

Well done to everyone who came along. It was tough going in the rain but I hope you had fun and enjoyed your egg. Well done to Patrick on being the first Goodgymer home in 1:11:08 and Alex not long after in 1:13:50. Thanks also to Charlie for taking some great pictures of everyone and a welcome to Becky joining us from Goodgym York.
