7 Goodgymmers took on the GG Islington Hill Sprints session this week, finding some great slopes and climbs across London!
The main objective was to run 10 x 10 second hill sprints (70-90% effort) in quick succession (walking/easy jogging back down the hill). The recent updates regarding government restrictions for exercise now offers our runners the chance to visit your local inclines.
Quite a few of our runners implemented these hill reps in the middle of a longer run (it is a really versatile workout). James ran 11 reps up the very steep Spingfield Park Hill (by accident), and Lizzy ran to Primose Hill near Regents Park for her sprints, part way through her long run.
Peter ran his workout on the beautiful Monkhams Hill near Knighton Wood, Woodford. Trainer Simon fitted in an early morning hill sprint session on a less pretty industrial road near the Excel Centre, Canning Town!
Graham admitted to struggling to get out for his morning hill reps at Ally Pally, but was really happy he did (we can all relate to this!). Kike tested out a couple of different slopes between Drayton Park and Highbury Fields for her repeats (super local for you Islington based folks!). And Steve ran a smart session around Finsbury Park, adding emphasis on elevation rather than explosive sprinting (not advised if you are recovering from a sore achilles). Great work adapting a workout to meet your requirements!
Well done everyone. Fantastic work- really awesome to see such a variety of hill locations.
