Florence Park Junior Parkrun is fast becoming one of my favourite ways to start a Sunday. What could be better than witnessing and encouraging the next generation of runners? Who knows, some of them could be future Goodgymers! Six Goodgym High-viz Heroes joined the volunteers this week, (it was wonderful to see Ruth and Anwen) and we were assigned a variety of tasks; marshalling, time keeping, barcode scanning and tail walking. Many high fives were given out, words of encouragement shouted and congratulations given to all the mini-runners at the finish line. After all the runners had finished, the last barcode and finish token had been scanned there was just enough time for a slightly comedy photo opportunity before some of us retired to Silvie’s for well-earned tea and cinnamon buns. We heard about some of Anwen’s adventures and agreed that we should have a “What I Did on my Holidays” presentation upon her return in April! Goodgym Oxford hopes to make Community Missions at Junior Parkrun a regular occurrence, so keep your eyes peeled for the February event and come along for a dose of Sunday Joy!
