Today I answered the Good Sam Siren- to Mr P, a 98 year old resident in Manchester.
Mr P had a fantastic Manchester accent and told me straight away, with surprise after me introducing myself, he had just had a call from someone, but was happy to chat again...
He said he was getting no fine. His daughter and grand daughter support him with shopping, although he is still able, things take him a lot longer, although he is fine with this.
He said he doesn't get out much due to this; hes happy at home with his rescue dog Molly. Hes got a handrail in his garden that allows him to walk about which he is grateful for.
We talked about cooking, he told me he still cooks for himself and is hoping to make a quiche this week.
We talked about his profession, he was an engineer and helped advise companies on the correct foundations when building new buildings and had worked all over the UK in a high position. This was really interesting and he was still extremely passionate about this. He said his wife had been a typist; he said he didn't bother much with her profession "just left her to it"
He seemed quite upbeat and told me he was happy and he had enjoyed his life. He has the support of his family but is still independent in his own way.
We said goodbye and I wished him a pleasant evening.
Over and out.
