Report written by Laura P (she/her)
On a grey but warm last day of June, 6 GoodGym runners ran 5km along the Coventry Canal for a litterpick.
We put on our gloves and grabbed our litter pickers to run out to bridge four, where we started our litter pick, keeping a lookout for protective swan parents as we went. There were plenty of bottles and cans to fill our bags, and by the time we had reached bridge two, our bin bags were full to the brim and our arms were getting tired!
On our return (and once our bin bags could take no more litter) we took the time to do some nature spotting. We saw ducks, butterflies, bees, various pretty purple flowers and moorhen parents busy building a nest. We also stopped to admire the swan family (who were happily swimming today) and watch some remote control boats in the canal basin.
The most unusual items spotted this week were one trainer (where is the other one?), a water pistol, and a pizza box which took some manoeuvring to retrieve from behind a fence!
Congratulations to Vic for her 50th good deed!
