Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Linda Sharman
Round two in assisting Mr W. This week James and Linda were joined by the lovely Liz who is a great asset to this mammoth task.
Liz opted to use the power tool to attack the brambles and targeted herself on breaking through one side so we could at least see what we are up against with the rest of the garden. Liz clearly felt all powerful blazing forth into the undergrowth with battle cries 😂 so Linda and James stayed well away from her by clearing some of the patio area which was slowly emerging from the undergrowth. James had the unenviable task of cutting up the brambles so they could be taken away in black bin liners and took over the strimmer to give Liz a break when we could wrestle the tool off her.
The brambles were in defense mode and there were several ouchie exclamations and calling the thorns names but we all ploughed on not letting the pricks get us down.
The moment arrived when the rest of the garden appeared. Fortunately it’s not too big and the brambles do stop giving way to easier to clear vegetation. We obliged a neighbour’s boy by throwing back several tennis and footballs. Other weird finds were plastic vegetables, a toy saucepan, old doormat (complete with bramble rooted in it) Lego and a child’s dummy 🤷🏼♀️
Liz had to leave on time, Linda and James opted to stay an extra half an hour to pick up a bit more of her spoils of war. There is at least another session required to finish this possibly more it’s a tough one but it would be very satisfying to see it through.
