Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Nick Moore
My biggest challenge on today's mission to help Mr E with some shopping was actually finding his flat, but once I'd navigated around most of the entrance doors to the complex in which he lives, I got to his front door, where he was waiting with an easy to follow list, a reusable shopping bag and some money.
A quick scan of the list and it was clear I could manage everything from the Waitrose downstairs (deja vu all over again having been in there on Friday morning), where amazingly there was no queue, but the same smiling security man happy to usher me in.
Mr E's list was a joy to follow - none of the items offered much room for error and thankfully the shelves had everything he needed...any discretion would only need to be applied to his request for two bottles of wine (one red, one white) that Mr E had added to the end of his list. I realised it had been a while since I'd last had the opportunity to scan the shelves in the wine section of a supermarket so that was quite fun and I'm hoping my choices met with his expectations.
A short walk in the sun back to his front door where he was surprised (as was I) how quickly I'd been able to get it done (I did do a quick check on the back of his list to make sure I hadn't missed a page 2...) - put down his shopping and change at his doorstep and from a distance we bid each other a cheery farewell and a mutual "stay safe".
