Green Right for Delivery is Still On!
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Southwark.
- Saturday, 24th of July 2021
Richard and I received warm welcome by a daughter of Mrs P, who will be soon discharged from the hospital. As a hospital bed will be delivered on Tuesday, the powered-reclining bed used by Mrs P until recently needs be moved out of her room. That is in the upstairs. The staircase is straight but narrow. Although the landing areas are too small to turn around bulky items, we managed the mission well to move a double-sized mattress and a head rest to the downstairs. The challenge started to appear when we found it impossible to disassemble the bed frame safely. As Richard and I agreed with the lady, the condition of the powered bed was too good to be dismantled and thrown away: much better to be reused. The new plan's drawn up. The bed will be taken by British Heart foundation or the company where they originally bought. Before the collection day to come, the room needs space for a new bed. So, we put aside the bed frame: leaning on the wall with heavy chest drawers in front. Now, an existing delivery schedue happily goes ahead.
