Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Two GoodGym runners braved the snow and helped clear up after Alara's Wassail Party by clearing up the ash and nails from the fire and hanging some gazebo covers to "dry"
Our first task was to clear up the ashy residue and hundreds of nails (from pallets) which filled up a wheelbarrow. We swept up and made sure the area was clean and clear and then moved on to another job.
Saturday morning was frosty and, alas, the fire was out. No problem: we warmed up by getting physical!
I'm knot an expert, but Alex is!
The gazebo covers were damp from the rain and snow so our next job was to create improvised washing lines from bits of string. Alex revealed he used to be in the cub scouts and it showed in his knot tying skills which were vastly better than mine! We also talked about our coach runs and various races and marathons this year - good luck to us both!
Snap: I've got the power - well the first string did
Our combined efforts did the job for airing the first gazebo cover but the second line couldn't support the weight of the next. It broke and so did our dreams...
But we didn't give up - we improvised even more and hung the second to dry over a beam and the third gazebo we draped over the tops of four chairs.
Result: three gazebo covers hung up to dry in three different ways. I wonder which is the best method!
TOTES AMAZE: Alara treats
After nearly 2 hours in the cold it was time to head home to find warmth. Our lovely hosts generously gave us tote bags with a few of their delicious treats. Always a pleasure to help and get a workout but a treat was the icing on the cake!
