Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
We continue to be blessed with wonderful sunshine, which can only mean one thing right? More hours in the day to go forth and do good and of course run lots and lots and lots ;-)
Todays task was a simple one, fight our way through the back streets of Central London slowly but surely making our way to the north of Borough where we would be greeted with yet more sunshine, pretty green trees and lovely flowers. Push through Regents Park avoiding all of those wonderful smells, flying cricket balls and little kiddies on scooters eventually popping out on the other side.
After around 2 miles of motoring along at a comfy pace we arrived at our destination. Regents Canal. A waterway that some of us take for granted.
Have you ever wondered who looks after the 2000 miles of canals and rivers? Bridges? Embankments? Towpaths? Aqueducts? Docks? Or reservoirs? Well if you have, wonder no more. It’s the wonderful people at Canals and a network of volunteers nationwide who give up time to do their bit.
Our run last night was all about finding out how we can help and where. Where have the weeds overgrown? Where is there graffiti that needs removing? Is there an area that a sustainable project could be started for the community? A home for bees? or Birds?
After a beautiful run along the canal and some discussions with regular visitors to the towpath we have lots of things to discuss and hopefully lots of things to do.
We left the canal and headed back through Lisson Green Estate, some quick intervals to get the legs going and a nice up tempo knees high to the sky back down south. A really nice enjoyable run.
11k in the bag and we just keep smiling.
Thank you for time folks, have a great week.
Continue to do small things with great love.
