On a cold winter night, five of GoodGym's fabulous runners met to do good in Wanstead and ran 6km in the process.

With regulars, Peter, Beth, Ellie and Trainer James in attendance it was great to see a new runner join the fold. Welcome Sabine who joined for her first ever Goodgym run and task! With a short briefing done it was simply a job of heading out on to the streets of Wanstead and Snaresbrook to see what had happened to our beloved flower beds - a task we have helped Wanstead Community Gardeners with in 2017.

The 'guerilla gardening' flower beds have made Wanstead a beautiful place but continue to attract coke cans, beer bottles and crisp packets so it was down to the team to clear these up. Not a sexy task but one that makes a real difference.

With the task done in double quick time, it was time to head for a run around Eagle pond and back to base.

Check the events page and join us next week for a fun task sorting toys with Forest Recycling Project.

I had a really good first run and task. The group were friendly and supportive, and as a new runner I was never left alone even though I hardly ran. Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm looking forward to the next run. Sabina
