Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Tonight we ran around 7km to help out at Waddon Youth Centre
Back down to south Croydon we headed this week but instead of stopping off at a little person’s play area we kept running to Waddon Youth Centre where we were met by Paul who showed us what needed doing. There was litter picking and sorting out what could be recycled, leaf clearing and weeding and tidying a small patch of overgrown weeds and plants. By the time the GoodGymers had cleared that little patch you could actually see the shrubs and flowers that had been hiding there. A job well done and a great title from Rachel - she’s on fire at the moment as she also came up with the pun for last Saturday’s Mission.
And speaking of Missions………… let’s get these DBS checks underway. It really doesn’t take long, there’s no regular commitment but even doing a few a year can make a huge difference to people who need our help.
It was a longer run than normal tonight with a few sneaky hills thrown in so rather than having a separate fitness session we incorporated some fantastically named Fartlek training into the run back. It worked well except when people forgot their numbers and we just kept waiting for Fartlek to be called. Nadine surprised us all with her super sprinting - some competitiveness coming out there!
A big GoodGym Croydon welcome to Phil - hope you had fun and looking forward to seeing you back again. Congratulations to Dom who starts work with the GoodGym central team tomorrow – well deserved.
Next week we should be heading along to Addiscombe to help ECCO – East Croydon Community Organization – with some overgrown ivy - so don’t forget to sign up and come along for some running and fun..
