The Fabulous 5
After a stormy weekend, calm and sunshine prevailed and my trusty volunteers met up with task owners Rik, Val and Sue for our regular visit back at St Botolph's church garden.
Today our task was to work on the overgrown vicarage garden adjacent to the gardens. The drive and borders were covered in moss and brambles so it was a great makeover opportunity for the team to really make a visual difference with our efforts.
Ros, Barbara together with Rik set about scraping and clearing the moss whilst Val,Ricky and Gill attacked the brambles. Gill got right in amongst the foliage meaning she ended up covered in burrs! Sue and I had a great catch up whilst pulling out the weeds. Sue was doing some great pruning along the boundary wall that borders the pavement to ensure that the branches don't over spill onto the pavement.
1 hour later and we started to loose the light so we packed away and discussed plans for next week. With Sue still waiting on the council to do the grass strimming, its possible that we may split into 2 groups with some pruning activity at the cemetery and some further work at St Botolphs ( there is always plenty to do there! )
We will meet at the cemetery at 6pm next Monday 25th and decide on a plan. Afterwards you are all invited to the Brew House to celebrate Johns 60th Birthday and also Sarah's official 50th task celebration. It promises to be a great night!
This Sunday I'm aiming to do a relaxed 10k to The Tiny Forest near Shoreham bridge. Pace will be aproximately at 9 min mile but bikes are also welcome.Meet at SPLC for a 9am start
Have a great week !
