Arriving at this afternoon's mission after a brief stop for cake following the morning's group run, Clo and I were greeted by Mr D and invited in for a chat before we got started with the tasks that he had lined up for us.

It was great to hear a little about his life and travels, following which we set to work on tidying up the little area outside his front door, which involved cleaning up two tables and chairs, brushing off the debris that had been building from the wind blowing stuff of the nearby trees. Mr D explained that the wind tends to swirl around his property, causing him to put bricks and full watering cans on top of his garden furniture to hold this in place.

Bringing out a very welcome cup of tea, Mr D made our day by adding a spoon of honey rather than sugar to sweeten this, and obviously trying to deliver a pre-Father's Day message for me in his choice of large mug (see photo)!

After Clo had given the pathway in front of his home the brush off and I had pulled out the nettles threatening to take over his seating area, we then moved round to the back of the property to attend to a large lavender bush and managed to remove the tall grass and bindweed growing within this.

Then it was back in for a further chat with Mr D who was clearly enjoying the opportunity for some company and conversation.

Great to catch up with Clo today too :-)
