Find out about GoodGym TaskForce

Share the love

8 lycra clad GoodGymers were unleashed onto the streets of Haringay, armed with enough will-power and determination to deliver some seriously good deeds.

laughs were had

We gathered for a much needed warm up to prep us for the cold evening ahead. We had a go at Varon’s “Get on Ups” which proved a little more difficult than they looked - laughs were had before some lightning quick push and pulls; followed by some foot touches using the curb. Soon our hearts were racing, and our muscles warm and raring to go. After the obligatory group selfie, a brisk jog had us doing more good for our friends at “Living Under One Sun”.

The recipe:

2 wheelbarrows 1 tonne of woodchip 8 pairs of gloves 2 spades 6 troughs and forks 2 buckets 4 headlamps

The task:

sweet smelling

After gathering all the tools, we were assigned to clear the allotment paths, and lay down some fresh (and sweet smelling) woodchip. Mud squelching beneath our feet we navigated our way through the boggy area of the moon lit allotments.

the barrow-handlers steered their steeds

After surveying the task and assigning roles, the GoodGym production line was soon in motion. The weeders weeded, the barrow-handlers steered their steeds, spades were shovelled, buckets were soon filled and emptied of pesky weeds. After some 45 minutes of serious grafting, we gave a big push for the final 10 minutes to ensure the paths were well and truly covered with woodchip.

It was really great to see how much work we had done, as we left – seeing the path now a completely different colour.

refraining from a quick stop at KFC for some chicken dips... I mean reverse dips

Some much needed high-fives took place, before our run back to HQ. Running a tad late we needed to make up a little time, refraining from a quick stop at KFC for some chicken dips... I mean reverse dips, but this was fine as we continued on knowing another good deed had been well and truly seen to. Great job guys, the Haringey GoodGym division marches on!

Thanks to Ollie for the run report and Dawn for the pun. Great job!!

Until next week folks - stay good, keep fit and look out for the light!
