A first time shopping task for Mr M nearly didn’t happen. He’d mislaid his diary in which he keeps his shopping list, which usually is located next to his chair. Having scoured all the likely places (under the chairs, on various shelves, mantelpiece and window sill) and even trying the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom, there was no sign of it anywhere. I offered to go and buy a few basic items but Mr M said that he really needed the list so that he could work out what he needed and asked if it would be possible for me to come back another day when he’d found his diary.

Feeling defeated I grabbed my coat and was saying my goodbyes when I noticed a fleece jacket hanging on the front of his walker. Mr M agreed that I could check the pockets and “voila!”, there was the diary.

As an hour had passed Mr M asked if I could take the list and come back another day with the shopping, but was delighted when I suggested that I take a photo of the list from the diary and go and get his shopping there and then.

When I returned, Mr M’s carer had turned up, who offered to put his shopping away for him as he excitedly recounted my detective skills in the relentless pursuit of his missing diary which was now sitting in it’s rightful place back by his chair.

Bizarrely the shopping seemed incidental, but Mr M seems to have enjoyed his first GoodGym visit! 🕵️‍♂️
