Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Paul Bown
36 GoodGymers ran 3-6km to help Kentish Town City Farm & Community by Design!
Corrr there was a lot of you last night, absolutely love it! Welcome along to Rebecca and Basil whose first time it was at GoodGym. With Alex and Patrick attending from GG Central I put them on the spot and got them to explain Missions and Coach Runs to us - they are the experts!
In the news this week:
After a quick warm up we split into two groups, with Chris leading the Kentish Town City Farm group and myself leading the team to the Calthorpe Project. PLUS Liz & Sophie went off to do a mission, read all about it here.
Farm Report by Steve 'Speed' Coman:
Off we are again to the fantastic Kentish Town City Farm. As soon as we arrived we were given a brief introduction to the farm by Elaine issued with gloves and safety instructions and then set to work.
Goats!
One group cleared a load of corrugated sheets from the goats enclosure and the second fetching huge amounts of scrap wood from the far side of the farm by the railway tracks. This was poetry in motion as the tasks were completed at double speed so the real aim of the evening could be achieved - stroking the goats!
Goodgymers love stroking goats, and the goats seem to like it too. The odd short was nibbled but much stroking was done. After this a quick group photo, and off we sped through the mean streets of Kentish Town to a well deserved stretch and the obligatory libation. Another successful evening in Camden.
Calthorpe Report by PB:
I took a wonderful team of 17 people around the corner to the Calthorpe Project, at one point we had to do a u-turn as I went right instead of left but hey we got there on time! We met Rokiah who manages Community by Design within the Calthorpe Project. She explained all about the amazing environmental sustainability work they are doing and how we can help.
Siphone that!
We had four tasks to do:
We said our goodbyes to Rokiah and had no time for intervals, alas! We headed back to Somers Town and met the other group for a stretch before heading to the pub.
Sign up for next week here - see you then!
PB out.
