Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Elizabeth
This morning I met up with the lovely Rianna for a quick Saturday morning mission.
Our task for the morning was to change some lightbulbs in Mr P's kitchen to make it safer for Mr P to work in. In fact, all four of his kitchen bulbs had blown, so our mission was definitely well-timed!
Mr P was super organized, and had placed all of the replacement lightbulbs and a stepladder out for us to use before our arrival. After receiving a warm welcome from Mr P, it was a matter of minutes for us to change the bulbs. The light fittings were slightly awkward in that they were recessed, with the lightbulb itself being held in by a removable clip. However, the two of us made it work by using the age old technique of jiggling them a little. I don't know about Rianna, but I occasionally closed my eyes when twisting the lightbulbs: I feel like this helped the situation.
As we were changing the bulbs, it emerged that some of Mr P's bathroom lightbulbs had also started to go. He didn't have any more bulbs for us to change them, and thought that the one over the bath itself would be a bit tricky to change. Rianna and I had a quick look (& took a couple of pictures), and we reckon a long-armed GoodGymmer would be able to do it (whoever does it can be bestowed the title of "the long arm of GoodGym"). Hopefully we can arrange a repeat mission to help out with this!
Job done, we made our goodbyes, with Rianna and I taking a selfie for the road. We turned down Mr P's kind offer of refreshments, as I needed to head off to a community mission. Hopefully Mr P will be able to get around his kitchen a bit more safely now 😄
