Report written by Laura P (she/her)
On a rather warm Wednesday, four Goodgymers ran just over 5km to Warwick Gates Community Centre to help assemble some flatpack furniture.
We took the scenic route out of Leamington town centre, admiring the street art and waving to the Leamington Winter Night Shelter on our way past. When we arrived at the community centre we were given a tour of the newly refurbished building which was busy with community groups all making good use of the different spaces.
Our task was seemingly straightforward- assemble two Ikea desks for the office area. Luckily we had both allan keys AND Allan's expertise to guide us through, and after the first desk was completed, the second one went up in world record time.
We made our way back to our start point via the Town Hall, where the Leamington Peregrines make their nest (see the webcams here [https://www.warwickshirewildlifetrust.org.uk/peregrine]) Volunteers from the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust had set up a spotting scope so we got a really good view of the newly fledged peregrine chicks and learnt more about them.
Thank you Lilian for planning and leading the running route. Katherine will be back next week!
