5 of us met at the Boyn Grove community allotment and split into 2 teams to set to work on the list of tasks we'd been sent by task owner Sue.

Lisa, Anita and Alice dug an L shaped bed for strawberries whilst Sophie and Amy (who we welcomed back for her second session) started cleaning the 5 water butts.

The brief was to rid them of harmful bacteria and re fill with just enough water to make them heavy enough not to be stolen.

When then L shaped bed had been made, the team set to work on putting a huge bag of compost into smaller bags and removing stones.

A great effort on a drizzly evening- well done ladies!

The Maidenhead Community Allotment is run by a group of volunteers, who grow food to share with local residents, the users of the Boyn Grove Community and Resource Centre and Maidenhead Foodshare. They work with Men in Sheds, who are based on the same site. Men in Sheds is an initiative to combat loneliness by providing a space for men to connect and chat over practical tasks.
