Report written by John Connaghan
Foxglove was in the air tonight as a group of red campions came together to crocus on the task in hand. There was a wormhole lotta love shared towards the trees at Liverpool Women’s Hospital.
Before starting the task, a group of 5 met at the Suitcases to quickly get a warm up in the bag and wind our way up to Faulkner Square. Once there, we kicked, waved wildly and punched the air. It was a HIIT session. All of which was nothing too exciting for a neighbourhood used to filmsets. We ran the last stretch to meet Ema (thank you for the photos!) and be greeted by Rowan and Fiona. No time had been wasted by them, they already had started! With everyone clear on our tasks of digging and removing clods of turfs to the skip there was time to catch up and see how each other was doing. The social side of group runs was in full flow with puns aplenty. It wouldn’t be casting nasturtiums to say that we primrose to the challenge.
It was great to have Amal join for her first group run and there will be more trips coming up soon to help finish the grass clearing. Prepping these areas will help the bees, pollination and hopefully lift the spirits of those who see the wildflowers. Good work everyone!
