Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Patrick Luong
Two goodgym veterans (almost) avoided the telly and spent the Royal Wedding Day weeding instead
On a glorious Saturday morning, Damian and I met outside Dee's home dressed for some weeding action.
But first, Dee asked if we were technophiles and could help with her telly saying that the tall trees were blocking the aerial signal. I looked up at said aerial and thought Damian is tall, but not that tall. Mercifully she invited us to her lounge to check out her Freeview box. We had a play around but it was only able to pick up a few channels (the wedding coverage was already in flow) though Dee surprised us by wanting to achieve a clear signal for E4! Not just for millennials then!
Anyway, I digrass
We then got to work on our hands and knees out in the front and back gardens doing a series of mini jobs ranging including weeding, removing some deeply rooted stray brambles, planting potted plants and getting to know a huge and gorgeous puppy called Ted.
Throughout our time, Dee was on hand to give us expert tutelage and clear instructions. We also learned she'd been in the area for over 40 years and used to be a teacher specialising in English as a Second Language.
After nearly two hours we'd achieved loads and Dee was very happy, though still has more odd jobs for a repeat visit.
Job done, wedding vows missed and we ran into a lovely sunny afternoon to enjoy our respective brunches
