Spiral
Winding in a continuous and gradually widening (or tightening) curve, either round a central point on a flat plane or about an axis so as to form a cone.
The challenge
To run a spiral! Feel free to take to the streets, mapping out a route where you are going round and round in an ever increasing but wobbly curve or take to a (local) park or open space and try to make a beautiful aesthetically pleasing spiral.
Your run counts if you never cross the same point and continue going in a broadly clockwise or anticlockwise direction getting wider from your starting point.
The results
Great efforts all round, the running from home meant that you were restricted to the layouts of your local streets. Interesting that most people went for road running with the odd start/finish on a green space. I wonder how this challenge might have ended differently now we can travel to exercise.
Three efforts from Mel plus an excellent "spiral" shirt to run in are worthy of mention. Jimmy (JimmyMaps failed apparently!) and Elena both noted the strong winds during their runs, fair play for getting out on Sunday in those conditions! Abul combined his spiral nicely with a session trying to run in certain HR zones. Jen's spiral attempt (there are pictures of the satellite view plan and the actual) would have been a beauty but the route was scuppered by a troublesome fence! It does now look like a bit of a bubble written letter G though! Michaela had to put some serious miles into her attempt, the shape of "Old Narborough" isn't really conducive to a good spiral so she took in three other villages en route!
I think the clear winner though is Maxine who joined in on tour from GoodGym Portsmouth. Give her a cheer for a cracking spiral attempt.
Well done everyone, another challenge on the way shortly...
