2 runners ran 3-4 kms to help Mrs H tidy up her garden and plant some evergreens she'd bought through her gardening catalogue.

We began around 11:15am and were shown to the back shed where the tools were kept. After locating a couple gardening forks, a hoe and a pair of gloves (Niamh had luckily brought her own) we asked whereabouts Mrs H wanted her plants. We identified a patch behind a small shrub and proceeded to remove the weeds, clear the leaves and dig holes for the 'Sharon Roses' we were planting. Mrs H remembered a bay leave tree she had in a window box and asked us to pop that in the ground between the roses.

Once that bed was finished, Niamh went to the other side of the garden and was instructed to dig a hole 20cm wide by 20cm long and 10cm deep. Niamh was super happy to complete this and popped a few 'narcissus' bulbs in the ground. We planted a few more along the borders and then placed a lovely creeper next to Mrs H's archway.

Cathy weeded many beds and together they planted more roses and tidied up.

The garden will be green in winter and a riot of colour come spring.

The rain attempted to dampen their spirits but all three; Cathy Niamh and Mrs H carried on undeterred

We were treated to a hot cup of coffee and a bit of cake by Mrs H once we'd finished. She was very grateful for our help
