SESSION ORGANISER
Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Becky Moylett
After great fun hacking on the cycle path, five GGers proceeded on to the second task today. First stop was Brunswick cafe (destruction always builds up and appetite) before heading further along the cycle path to find a dilapidated mile sustrans mile marker. Originally yellow, the marker was battered, with paint chipping off.
So, first part of the task was to get rid of falling off paint. Armed with a whole roll of sandpaper, we made quick work of that, though we did get rather showered in yellow paint chip.
John: "it's okay, it matches your hair, no one will notice"
Part two (small part), mixing paint. It was rapidly realised that the paint definitely needed stirring, and that we had no tool useful for this. Up stepped Andy.
Andy: "this is the worst stick ever"
Part three, painting. As it turns out, the sustrans markers are actually quite well decorated, with lots of careful little designs carved in. Great for painting... not. However, one and a bit coats later, with only a small amount on hands, clothes, watches... we had a beautiful black marker (and a very excited dog who tried to paint themself too).
Unfortunately at this point we remembered that the other colour to be used on the bollards was green. Not ideal as everything useful for painting with was currently black. So greening has been postponed for another day, another deed, more chances for more people to do good (aren't we a lovely lot saving that for everyone!)
