Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Dom Tooze (he/him)
On Saturday Audrey and I went to help Mrs D sort out a couple of bits in her garden. We met her and had a chat about what needed doing; the main thing being a couple of bushes at the side of the garden, one in need of a trim, and one she wanted gone.
Audrey and I focused our efforts on the one that needed to go. It was full of thorns, so it was difficult (and occasionally painful!) work, but incredibly satisfying. Mrs D offered us her old machete to deal with the larger chunks. After some hesitation, then consideration, I had a few swings at the trunk of the plant which helped loosen it up.
Mrs D was a delight to chat to; we talked about the area, language, her (lovely) cat Rosa, and the catharsis one can get in the garden. Also great was an unexpected Shaggy reference, and when Mrs D noticed she'd jotted down Audrey's name wrong and waved it off by saying the mission title.
It was Audrey's first ever mission, give her a cheer on her profile!
