10 runners, 1 loft and a lot of 80's memorabilia.
This week was a lovely 5km run up some slightly more forgiving hills to the Copleston Centre Church where we met Reverend Paul who explained a bit about what the church does other than Sunday services. The kitchen gets used for meals for homeless and the lonely, there is access to mental health support for those who aren't sure where to go and Tuesday's are drop in days for asylum seekers in the community. Needless to say that the loft there frequently has stuff chucked up which hasn't been sorted through for an age.
Using the age old method of a chain down the ladder, we emptied, sorted and conquered. The Reverend was ruthlessly efficient at getting us to throw out stuff. Overhead projectors, slide projectors, old and broken music stands. The favourite find of the evening was a ghetto blaster that most of us recognised from our primary school days. Along with the shortest electrical lead, we found a cassette of classical music to keep us going.
Bins full and loft sorted, we made our way back to Old Spike via the Rye which was host to GG Southwark's first time trial. Congratulations to Michael for setting the first record over the 720metres distance.
Next week will be a different pace. All runners welcome for a bit of an endurance session & some room sorting at Cool Tan Arts.
Happy running!
