Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Bournemouth runner
Heather and I met at Mrs C, but made a longer run of it to get there....mostly on purpose...but also because we both managed to get lost on our ways there! We ran about 5km there, in very muggy conditions and both arrived super sweaty! Must have looked great!!! It was Heather's first mission for GoodGym, after only getting mission verified this very week! Swweeeeeet! I had been to Mrs C's before on a insane ivy bashing mission that was never ending! However, this time we were tasked with something a little more manageable. We needed to take down some ivy from her back fence as well as cut back some roses and rosehip that was getting out of hand in her front garden. The ivy was stuck to the fence so rather than pull the whole fence down we decided to be a little more delicate and cut off pieces and then pull. We also had to pull free some chicken wire and tidy up lots of pots and dishes. Heather went into overdrive, fought her dislike of spiders, and showed the ivy who was boss. We also managed to redirect her passion fruit plant and take out some more dead plants to make her garden look at lot happier. We spotted a little more ivy sneaking up her side gate and took care of that too. Mrs C was sooooooo grateful and even offered us some money for chocolate....we had to decline......I know, that was the hardest bit! I hope we get to go back again soon. She can barely walk around and has tried to do lots of things herself. These missions are so important, not just to help them look after their garden, but it stops them from trying things themselves and potentially getting hurt. Heather then took a longer route back to her car to do her Sunday long run of around 16km total, and I decided to take the same route home without getting lost.....managed that but also managed to stack it on the trails! Shhhhh, don't tell anyone....don't think anyone saw it!
