Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Tim Dickson
Well that's it for 2017 , and what a year its been at Bexley Goodgym. Last night was absolutely freezing, and to add to the cold, the pavements were like an ice rink. Tonight we had two tasks to try and cover. A quick leaflet drop for "Animal Protection" then it was over to Danson Youth Centre to help clear up some hay bales left over from the reindeer and Santa visit. On leaving the warmth of Crooklog sports centre we realized how slippery it was under foot. We did manage to find an area for our warm up (really needed) and leaflet sorting. With the safety briefing done we headed out to start the leaflet drop. It was not easy as the pavements and roads off the main high street were deadly so i had to put my health and safety hat on before someone got hurt. So the run turned into a power walking / run to get the leaflets done. With no more leaflets in hand we headed over to Danson Youth Centre for our second task. On arrival we were greeted by Ben who told us that due go the snow fall etc the task would need to be canceled. We agreed as the hay bales were soaking wet and doing anything with them would be pointless. The bonus however was the offer to use their facilities for our fitness session. Result!! Bosh! we got straight in and got started. Skipping took a massive part in our evening. 'FACT'S' Skipping for ten minutes has the same benefits as a 40 minute run. If you can skip continuously for two hours, you can run a marathon. It was a good job we didn't have two hours to spare :-/ After a great evening of fitness and of course a Christmas game, which got very competitive (hahaha) the evening wouldn't of been complete without a mince pie. Well it would of been very rude not too.......... I would like to take this moment to thank everyone at Goodgym Bexley for making it what it is. It's been great meeting new faces and making new friends. I want to also give a massive hi5 to Ben and Joy from the Danson Youth Centre for being nothing but awesome. Mandy from Greenwich and Bexley Hospice. Ben from BATs transport. Kerry from The Animal Protection Bexley and to everyone else who has been supportive of us since starting in March. Have an awesome Christmas everyone and look forward to an even better 2018........ Tim
