Children enjoy playing in sand, if the sand has broken bottles in it then bad things can happen. We were asked to rake the leaves and broken glass out of a playground in Limehouse last night and we set out from our base at West Ham ESLC changing rooms at 7pm on the dot. The route there took us through the big industrial estate with 5 gas towers to the East of the A12 over the various Lea River-canal combos and down the entirity of Devons road. We arrived 5k and 30mins later at the playground in Stepney. Half an hour of solid raking left the sand leaf and glass free and safe for children to play in again. The longer route back along Lime House cut and under the A12 brought the total distance up to 12.11 k.
