It's the most runderful time of the year!

The conditions were a bit bleak last night but 11 of us still ran to do good for the final time this year! Callum was back from up north and he definitely brought the weather with him that's for sure!

We gathered inside at our base in Bodyline Studios and spoke about the plan of action for the evening, we were visiting a sheltered accommodation site in Hanwell on behalf of NHG Group to help them build a base for their shed with had been built without any foundations. A special thank you to Lionel who had identified the task on a previous visit and had put in a lot of leg work to make this happen. This task definitely wouldn't have happened without him!

Just a couple of announcements before we got stuck in...

Well done to Shan who become the latest addition to the 50 club last night!

I became a member of the 100 club last night!

What a brilliant way to end a year of group runs!

The run was a puddly affair with lots of leaping and bounding in an attempt to avoid squelchy feet but after receiving a tidal wave splash from a passing bus we were all so drenched we couldn't get much wetter! We arrived to find Lionel ready with all the tools he had so kindly brought down to the site to accommodate this evenings tasks, super organised he had us all doing jobs straight away.

It's all about the base...

The current shed on site was a rapidly sinking ship, already being absorbed by the grass our job was to build a new base and relocate the shed onto a stable foundation. Lionel had identified a way to build the base with a wooden frame, aggregate, membrane, grids and floorboards to avoid needing to set a concrete layer. With lots to do we all got stuck into different tasks and worked together through the elements to get the job done!

The final hurdle was to lift the existing shed onto it's new home and with a bit of jiggling around we got a pretty close fit! We'll have to complete another visit to get it perfectly snug but we secured it for the evening and left knowing we've done the hard bit and it's no longer sinking into the ground! Lionel finished up by adding in some blocks to make sure it was safe until we can return to finish up!

Mother nature definitely wasn't on our side last night but the residents were as a lovely lady offered us chocolate biscuits for our efforts!

After packing up it was just a soggy run back to the start (some of us deciding to keep our gardening gloves on as an extra layer of warmth!) where we knew the pub was waiting for our end of year celebrations!

Thank you to everyone for a year of hard work, great laughs and a whole lot of good!

Onto the pub...
