Well last night we introduced GG Greenwich to Woolwich in a very enjoyable display of fitness, good deeds and some ballet later on in the evening. 7 goodgymmers gathered in our newest start location - the Equitable in Woolwich town centre. We were heading off for a new task as well but first, we went around the group and discussed inspiration women as Tuesday was International Women's Day.
We did a quick display for the commuters, a nice gentle warm up getting us ready for our run followed by some dynamic stretches, then headed off to Invicta Community Hall. A straightforward route and everyone enjoyed a nice chance to have a catch up as we made our way down the high street. Andy from Glyndon met us at Invicta to show us around another excellent community hub.
Our task was to give the outside areas a sweep and pick up any random bits, the hall is used as a nursery and there were some fun objects to be found, including a small tractor which could not be moved. The team split into small groups to cover the areas, and gathered up leaves, stones and other messy bits. After only a short time we were finished and said goodbye Andy, until next time - which will be at Glyndon in two weeks time.
The group made our way back to General Gordon Square and as we had plenty of time we did a quick strength work out focusing on those major running muscles. We finished up with a little calf variation where the team practiced their plies and I had not realised how graceful we are in Greenwich!
Thanks to all that came and supported me on my first run leader session, I absolutely loved it! Nice work everyone and see you all soon.
