SESSION ORGANISER
Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Slough runner
It was a hive of activity when I arrived at Churchmead School for the Wild about Datchet Environmental event.
Our table was nicely located at the back corner of the hall with a great view of the other stalls, the auditorium and the stage.
So many people stopped by to ask 'who are Goodgym?', 'What do Goodgym do?' 'How does Goodgym work?' and 'How do I sign up?' and it was easy to draw them in and answer their questions and show them the sign up page on the website.
The bigger challenge was drawing in those who approached tentatively claiming 'oh my going to the gym days are long gone' or 'I don't do gyms'. The joy it brought in explaining that we are not your typical gym!
Focussing on our sustainable aim of encouraging members to run, walk, jog or cycle to missions spoke to the eco friendly audience and lots of people left with a very positive impression of what we do and clear guidance on how to get involved. Most of my recyclable leaflets were taken away too so lets hope one or two join us for at least one session soon. A couple of people were interested in being task owners or making referrals on behalf of clients.
There was a great buzz at the event, some lovely cakes for sale by the Churchmead School Eco Warriors and lots of interesting speakers/updates on the Royal Borough's environmental strategy.
At the very least being present at the event was great publicity for GG Windsor and Maidenhead and that's something worthwhile (or should that be worthwild?!)
