...unfortunately it's got compost in it!
On a icy cold winter night eight of Goodgym's most committed runners met to shift compost and ran 6km in the process.
January's Task Challenge was smashed last week so it was all about see how far we could beat our 40 task goal by. Surely 60 tasks is possible?
With eight runners in attendance and a task to decant top soil and mushroom compost, the team have never been more enthusiastic. With the weekly briefing done, it was a quick jog down to Wanstead High Street to the Corner House to decant one tonne bags of soil and compost into smaller sacks for use by Wanstead Community Gardeners. This task was so massive that we started it on Saturday and had to admit defeat BUT with a bigger squad in attendance the compost bag was completely emptied and a big dent made in the top soil. Great work team!
After 45 minutes of shoveling, bodies were warm but hands were numb and it was time to let the blood flow back in to the extremities with am easy 6km run around Eagle Pond.
Another top night of good deeds and running only slightly marred by the departure of Goodgym favourite, Stefania. In only a short time she has embraced the GG ethos, becoming a Coach Runner, a multiple mission completer and even received her black GG t-shirt for 50 tasks! She will be sadly missed and we wish her well for the future!
There's plenty more GG fun and goodness next week and you can sign up to the run using the link on the right!
Run by Marian this group helps take unloved patches of land in Wanstead and Snaresbrook and turn them into beautiful patches of flowers and plants.
