17 Hackney GoodGymers ran 3k to London Fields to rid the wild flower meadow of as my Fat Hen an invasive and dominating flower that was trying to take over!
Summer was in full force this evening as temperatures soared Team GG refused to wilt! Welcoming in a few new faces for the evening was great to have a strong squad out for a very enjoyable task right on our doorstep.
Manufacturing a super indirect route we were about to turn a 150 metre route into a varied 3k sweeping route through a market, Canal, past tennis courts and even the Lido.
Finishing up at the park keepers lodge in London Fields we grabbed our gloves and bags and studied the Fat Hen plant we had been tasked to remove! Then setting off into the very full London field’s and got to work on the wild flower meadows.
Plucking little and huge Fat Hen’s our of the ground will filled 8 bags of the invasive plant and gave the rest of the meadow a chance to flourish in the coming weeks and months!
With the bags filled and time getting short we wondered back to base with a top Task complete!!
See you next week for another Super Tuesday in Hackney!!
