Jack ran and Sheila cycled to St Marks Methodist church to help them tidy up their grounds. Their smart new facility is being dedicated next week, and they were keen to make the place look spick and span. Task-owner Ed and his helpers had already pulled out a whole load of ivy from the hedge surrounding the grounds, and this needed clearing up in addition to all the leaves and trimmings from the hedge Sheila took charge of the litter picker and before long had filled a bin bag with cans, bottles and wrappers that had mysteriously found their way into the hedge. Jack turned out to be very handy with the broom, and set to work sweeping up the hedge trimmings and bagging them up. Halfway through we were called in for elevenses by the ladies of the church, including the some delicious home-made cake. We'll definitely come again! It also gave us the opportunity to learn a bit more about the church and get to know our hosts. Then it was back to work, and we ended up with several bin bags full of green waste and some much tidier church grounds. Thanks to Ed for inviting us and we look forward to helping out again in the future
