Someone somewhere will know why pears haven't been on the shelves of Ms L's local Sainsbury's for what feels like forever - but thankfully the friendly fruit and veg man outside Holborn station came to the rescue once again with his cut price deal. The mystery thickened further when I happened to wander post-shop into another Sainsbury's nearby and found their shelves full of the green wonderfruit - at least I'll know where to go next time...
