Another longer run tonight as we headed to The Bevy for the second week in a row.
The wonderful Bevy (it’s so much more than a pub!) relies on volunteers to keep doing its amazing community work and a crew of locals spent the glorious bank holiday weekend giving the kitchen a deep clean and a lick of paint. Our task for the night was helping them get the pub back in order for the reopening on Wednesday lunchtime.
After a 4km uphill run we arrived at the pub to meet Ian who told us all about the good stuff that goes on in The Bevy. Every time I visit I learn about another great community initiative that happens there e.g. young people with learning difficulties from a local school getting trained up to work in a kitchen. It really does reach so many people and has a positive impact on so many lives, including ours cos we love going there! If you want to learn more about the story behind The Bevy and all the hard work that went into getting it open then watch this great video.
Task complete it was ale downhill back to base for our monthly social where we learnt from Frannie the origin of the word ‘posh’ and that Tabitha plays a mean french horn! Don’t forget it’s our parkrun meet up on Saturday at Hove Park and next week we’re heading to the Craven Vale estate for a variety of odd jobs and its also their community quiz night so there will be the option of joining in.
Keep on running!
