After welcoming new member Steve last week with a real baptism of fire (wind, rain, freezing temperatures), we were delighted to see that he’d been brave enough to come back for a second week of Goodgym madness. Welcome back Steve, may this be the second of many tasks!

The weather was much kinder to us this week – despite a wet morning in Crewe, we were lucky that the rain had stopped for our task. However, as I sit here typing this report, the rain is lashing down. So happy that it wasn’t like this at 7pm!!

Karen, Emily and Steve made their way to task tonight either by pedal or pied! I especially love the lighter nights for cycling. The rest of us came along in cars, armed with gardening tools for the task.

We had two groups once again tonight – a running and a walking group. Tonight Emily led the warm up as part of her run leading training. You did an amazing job Emily, well done!! I’ve no doubt you’ll smash the course! We had a great session with some great moves - the perfect way to get the blood pumping.

Emily, Karen, Steven and I set off for our run, while Nigel & Maurice formed the walking group. The runners did a nice circular route which worked out to be just over 3K. We couldn’t have timed it much better for meeting back up with our walkers.

When we got back, we set to work on the task of clearing the alleyway at the back of some residential bungalows. The area had become overgrown with brambles over time (the castle in sleeping beauty springs to mind!) and elderly residents who live backing onto the alley weren’t able to access the backs of their properties. We chopped, we hacked, we raked, we pruned, and we picked (litter)… not forgetting chatting – there was plenty of that too! It was amazing to see the difference 7 pairs of hands can make in just over an hour. It looks transformed!! Also, a big should out to Hazel tonight too for all her input into this area and for walking down with all her tools!

We rounded up the evening with the obligatory chocolate bar! Yum,

Well done everyone. Another great evening filled with fun, fitness, friendship & the feel good factor.

Loved being with you as always Nicola xxx
