Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
12 runners ran 4km to scrape old paint off the railings at KORI playground.
Sarah was the first to turn up this week, having done an speedy 8 km warm up to keep Dashing Dave company. Next up, we had a few new starters, Senay, Damain, and Pennie rocked up. Great to hear that our neighbouring borough GoodGym Barnet is launching soon! Soon there were 12 of us, and we were ready to set off.
We started with a few active stretches for a warm up, and (pausing briefly for a traditional GGH #BridgePic selfie) headed off. When we got to the half way point, the 4 fastest people threw in a gentle lap around the war memorial. The twist being that each got to shout "Hustle!" once, and then they had to sprint for 2 seconds. Great for building up anaerobic strength.
Then onto those railings at the KORI playground, and the return of the silly face competition! Everyone got stuck in, with debates about the effectiveness of the different tool options, and upcoming races, abounding. We're getting close to having a whole side cleared off.
On the return leg, the fastest runners had a wall sit competition, while they waited for us all to catch up. We then took an exercise from the GoodGym Redbridge launch writeup, and tried out the Hundred up to focus on our technique. It's really tiring!
Finally we had just enough time for plank off competition! But not enough battery life on my phone to record the actual time. But the winner, by a good 20 seconds or so was Rudra. Give that man some cheers!
Then back to the Leisure Centre for those all important stretches.
There's the Finsbury Parkrun this weekend, and Bench Painting next week.
