**This evening we ran around 4km to help ECCO out

The weather looked promising as we gathered tonight for our group session and prepared to head up to the raised beds on Addiscombe Road. After we collected the tools, bags and gloves from Jerry we headed to the raised bed to attack the ivy and other assorted weeds. Stubborn doesn’t even begin to describe the vegetation! Obviously the rain decided to make an appearance as we got stuck into the task but it did keep us cool. By the end of our cutting, trimming, pulling and litter picking we’d collected over 20 large bags of green waste and another couple of rubbish – amazing work!

A “new to Croydon” GoodGym runner Mark joined us today and impressed us with his swiftness up the hills - hope to see you again soon.

As the run to the task was short we headed up to Park Hill to have fun on the hills (!) and practiced uphill and downhill running – thinking more about technique and form rather than outright speed – it was a long hill so speed over that distance would have just been mean!

During the cool-down we chat about next week’s session at Birdhurst Community Garden and also the Starter sessions coming up in September as part of the launch of the Natural Health Service pilot in Croydon. Most of the sessions are on a Saturday and we will meet at the venues – why not sign up and bring along some family or friends. These sessions are perfect to give people a flavor of what GoodGym is all about.
