Three regular missioners joined forces to make massive progress clearing Harry's back garden so that he can enjoy his outdoor space again

Harry is a charismatic neighbour in his nineties and has lived in North London for decades. He has the pleasure of a garden space but, unfortunately, he can no longer keep up with the maintenance in his garden which his late wife had established years ago.

You might want to sit down...

Before we'd even started, Harry sat us down in his front lounge and warned us that his garden had not been properly maintained for three years. He saw that we'd run to his home and expected us to run away when we saw what was in store.

The Blitz

We started by bagging up loads of rubbish that was making it a challenge to get around the garden.

Lucy took the shears and chopped back a huge curtain of ivy which was at a least a foot deep while Bianca took on nettles and the beds.

I was mostly on music duty and bagging up but then also took over the ivy so that we could actually see through to the neighbour's garden

We talked about Bianca's first 10k and coach runs and planning Lucy's 50th (deed not birthday!) and enjoyed retro tunes.

We worked hard for around 90 minutes and didn't even stop for a cuppa!

TTFN

Harry was delighted with the progress to date and still surprised that we'd not bolted out the front door when we saw his back garden.

We agreed that GoodGym will need one or two more visits and that Harry should arrange a refuse collection as there's still a lot of debris to clear and more shearing. Watch this space for a chance to make a huge impact in a small space.
