With the weather cooling down but the evenings still bright we meet at the usual time and place for another great session on Wednesday at 6.30pm

Tonight’s task was a new one (can I get a woooooooooooo?) where we were to go do some litter picking in the north Melbourne area of Chelmsford. Having organised with Lee where the bad areas were and she kindly storing and supplying us with the equipment we needed, we set off from ARU with Rachel and Joel leading the way.

We arrived in plenty of time and Lee had organised to leave the gloves, litter pickers and bags for us in a safe place so we could get stuck into some good picking. There were 2 areas that needed our attention. 1 was a cut through between two roads and the other was a pathway leading from a supermarket.

Before I could tell anyone to start I could see eyes searching and litter pickers snapping as everyone homed in on as much rubbish as they could find. Special mentions to David with the help of Laurie and James G who found an old BOOT buried deep in a bush. But the winner has to be Fay for her find of an unopened bottle of Jack Daniels. I know what I’ll be drinking at the next social ;-P . A great job by everyone, litter attracts more litter so hopefully by tidying up these areas it makes people less likely to drop it and so making it a nicer area to be in. I even heard a few “thank you’ s” from passers-by.

With rubbish bags full we returned the equipment and was greeting by Lee and after smiles and thanks all round a group photo was taken and it was time to GO for a run back.

As we were going close to Gerrys house he said his goodbyes en-route and we continued back to ARU…. Where James G’s daughter Megan had made what I can only describe as the best flapjacks I have ever tasted. So good I had to have another. Feeling guilty Adam then confessed that he had eaten quite a few flapjacks before coming tonight. Nothing to feel guilty about at all Adam.

And from all of us THANK YOU MEG

Next week’s run to Broomfield will be lead by David where you will be planting flowers in the beds you have worked so hard on.

Until then

Run Happy

Rich
