Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Maddy Winnard
After a last minute rescheduling, our community mission for Gosforth Civic Theatre took place on Tuesday afternoon. I paid a visit to the Theatre to meet lovely Scott who gave me a tour of the wonderful venue and provided me with the leaflets to distribute.
I met up with Andrew (who showed utter commitment and ran over from Quayside on his lunch break) in Gosforth to spread the word about the Christmas production, Jack Frost. Unfortunately for us the weather for us was more drizzly than frosty but we embraced it - afterall, no rain, no gain!
We started off at the Lawn Tennis Club and made our way round churches, a hospice and community centres. We met an array of lovely helpful people who accepted the leaflets gladly and made the task rain sailing!
Andrew then had to hurry back as we were getting further and further out of rainge and he needed to be back to be #nakedatwork (i.e. to shower) at 2pm sharp. It was only when he was a tiny dot in the distance that it dawned on me that I had forgotten to take a photo of the rain event. The (post-punch) photo of us at Ghetto Golf will have to suffice.
I was left to complete the tour of primary schools on my lonesome. Luckily I had the Jonathan Van Ness podcast to keep me company. My phone told me I walked 17km during the task, and Andrew ran a total of 10km from work and back in addition to the amount he walked - we both felt very achey but right as rain afterwards!
