A super 17 ran a new route to work with Alley Angels and keep our streets clean.
I was greeted by a very sleepy looking crew at this week's Group Run. The extra hours they've been putting in for the January Challenge, are finally catching up. Yet they were there and they were ready for our longest run of the year so far, heading to work with local community group Alley Angels for the first time.
We plodded our way down the dark streets of north Liverpool for around 3km before meeting lead angel James in the car park of the Asda. Wearing a high vis jacket with angel wings over it, we soon realised that James was our kind of local hero! The plan was to tidy up the micro-community around the parking lot with some problem areas pointed out by James.
The team grabbed pickers, switched on their headtorches and sprang to work. But even with 17 people and 35 minutes, we only scrapped the surface of this very littered area. That said, the team did a phenomenal job bagging over 25 sacks of litter plus a dumped sofa, a pram and various other household items that ought not to be abandoned at the side of the road.
This week's shout out goes to Will who has quietly clocked 11 good deeds over the last few weeks and is quickly becoming a core part of our team. Keep up the great work dude!
And also a massive well done and kudos to the whole team who has poured their heart and soul into the January Challenge and have kept us clinging on to the possibility of a podium finish in spite of being a smaller branch than those around us in the league table. Whatever happens in the next 10 days, you lot are amazing!
