Report written by Pete
Great to see 14 GGers assemble at Newton on Ouse for a social run designed so that everyone could have a nice trot round the bounds of Beningborough to finish in time for a pub meal and social drink even if distances were planned using a old man's £5.99 casio watch rather than the usual strava pin pint accuracy...
Thankfully, the temperatures from earlier in the week had subsided and it was a nice (if still slightly muggy) evening. Thanks to taxy driver Martin in filling his car although Tim decided he might as well run there while Beth ordered the food and Debs (hopefully returned the random car ?) and Jackie managed to make it in time for the pub
With food ordered 2 groups set off for slightly different distance and paces in the grounds of Beningborough Hall. With Louise perhaps regretting her choice as the longer group's path took us through a field of corn above her head (knee height for Pete) she did manage a quick swing half way through. Meanwhile the other group were ahead and running down the river. Arriving back at the pub early a few of them decided another loop was required to justify the food with Neil, Pete and David arriving just as food was being served having had to keep up with Louise who was on a mission to measure the size of a burger in relation to a crisp packet...
Thanks all for coming - hopefully we can do something similar before the summer is out....
