Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Awesome Run Report by Hannah Liddell
Another Monday evening, another GoodGym Brent session. A super smiley crew gathered at Willesden Sports Centre to sprinkle their magic over the communities of West London.
Before the set off, a friendly catch up was had. We discussed the meaning of life through the perspective of a 9 year old and coach Ellie encouraged us to join her and her girls empowerment running group for a fancy dress park run on the spooky Saturday that is Halloween.
Chats over we charged out into the evening and headed over to the Sainsbury’s on the High Street to do good for less.
We were greeted by Abraham from the Willesden Town Team who had found us a lovely patch, frequented by some fly tippers, to be cleared (which included none other than Pigeon Passage…a special something we’re saving for next time when we will be armed and dangerous with pressure washers!)
Grabbers and bags in arms we set to work, picking, pulling and prodding as we bagged whatever we dragged from the bushes. Cries of “Ellie check it’s not a dead body” filled the air, as a debatable looking duvet was unearthed; pants, trousers and a ropey looking jumper were all up for grabs*.
With the going price of £1,000 decided on for a night under said duvet, we bagged the last of the goods and headed out for the evenings run.
A steady pace was set, lulling us all into a false sense of security as Ellie had other ideas, “When I yell TEMPO you have to go for it!”
Lifting the knees and powering through with the arms, we kicked up a storm, and saw the blur that was Chris streak into the distance. Spurred on by a drive-by yell of “Fat Bastards” from a wannabe GoodGymer we blasted out 2 more sprints before we were all yelling “Temp-NO!” at the top of the road.
Back at base for a cracking stretch, let’s hear it for GoodGym Brent,
“DU-YAY!!”
