Just keep swiping
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Southwark.
- Sunday, 23rd of August 2020
We quickly mastered the art of texting and then got onto the agenda of the day - downloading social media. It was tricky to add Mr A’s friends as we didn’t know their surnames. But we did find a profile for his community group/social club (after a chat about hobbies and some detective work). So in the end, he was able to show me all the lovely pictures of their previous outings, karate lessons and group gatherings. Connected to this community group Facebook profile, I hope Mr A will be able to catch up with the people he’d usually see in person, and keep up with their news and goings on. It might take a few more sessions to become completely tech savvy (and maybe a more artistic instruction booklet than the one I drew!), but this was a good start. And a lovely morning spent sharing a chat and finding out about Mr A’s life and interests too. He was even excited to see he featured on some of the videos on the Facebook page! Bit of a star then...
